Doomed Dockyard Defense
Mini-Dungeon for 4–5 characters of 3rd–4th level
Special Collaboration with Dynamic Dungeons – Includes Moving Maps
Protect the treasury in a chaotic 5E dockyard defense adventure where preparation, investigation, and fast decisions matter as much as steel and spellcraft. The Feignar Trading Company is moving its fortune to a larger city, and word of the shipment has spread through every shadowed alley and salt-stained tavern near the docks.
The company’s leaders dismiss the danger, but the town guard knows better. With the treasury ships due to arrive in twelve hours, the heroes are hired as last-minute security and given time to prepare the dockyard, question suspects, and uncover who plans to strike.
Twelve Hours Before the Arrival
This coastal 5E Mini-Dungeon gives the party a chance to shape the battlefield before the action begins. Clever adventurers can set traps, plan defensive positions, and investigate several possible threats before the treasure reaches port.
Their leads may point them toward:
- Rival gangs led by brawny twin troublemakers
- The Madarai, a dangerous network of spies, thieves, and kidnappers
- The city’s ratfolk community, blamed by locals for nearly every crime
- Skrap, a vengeful outcast with a dangerous plan involving a kelp drake
Smart investigation can remove threats before combat ever begins, while poor preparation leaves the dockyard vulnerable when everything erupts at once.
Chaos on the Waterfront
When the treasury ships arrive, the docks become a frantic battleground. Thugs storm the streets, spies emerge from beneath the waves, treasure crates vanish into extradimensional bags, and a kelp drake tears into anyone unlucky enough to stand nearby.
The encounter can be run with breathing room between threats or as escalating all-out chaos, forcing the party to split attention between open combat, hidden thieves, frightened workers, and the monster rampaging through the harbor.
A Dynamic Coastal Mini-Dungeon
Doomed Dockyard Defense is built for groups that enjoy tactical problem-solving, investigation, and layered encounters. The adventure rewards diplomacy, compassion, preparation, and quick thinking, giving the heroes several ways to succeed before the first blade is drawn.
This Mini-Dungeon works especially well for campaigns featuring:
- Coastal cities and criminal factions
- Urban intrigue and dockside danger
- Heists, ambushes, and defensive encounters
- Moral choices involving wealth, power, and marginalized communities
- Fast one-shot play with multiple moving threats

Did a 4 because I’ve only had a chance to skim through and not really evaluated, but I expect its on par with the rest so could be 5 with more time.
