A fishing village adjacent to a healthy iron mine, Rybalka had a different name just a few decades ago when the Vikmordere controlled it. The Klavek Empire now rules the village and keeps a permanent troop of a dozen or so guards to protect the populace and the vital mine.
Many Rybalkan Vikmordere locals who shunned the raiders were allowed to stay and live freely in the village as they continued providing services to the Klavek settlers, including blacksmithing, fishing, mining, and shipwrighting.
Many newer Klavekian settlers took time to come to terms with how locals from both cultures borrow practices from each other. However, high priest Juriendor’s ecumenical rituals provided a legitimacy to a variety of beliefs and inspired quicker acceptance of lifestyles that might have been deemed odd back in the heartland. Many of the guards began requesting repeat postings, preferring not to be sent back to Klavek itself. After many years this way, many Klavekians are beginning to be considered locals themselves.
Rybalka is a new campaign setting location for inclusion in any campaign near arctic or cold terrain. It is part of a D&D 5e 2024 adventure but can be placed in any medieval fantasy game.
