The Three Sisters – Riverside Towns of the Klavek Empire

The Three Sisters – Riverside Towns of the Klavek Empire

Also known as the Lowland Villages or Riverside Towns, the Three Sisters are a triad of settlements that lie south of Mohkba. These riverside towns are nestled along the banks of the Serpent River. Travelers encounter them shortly after passing Fort Anton, descending into the fertile lowlands carved by the glacial-fed waters. Though bound by trade and proximity, each sister-town offers a distinct personality, purpose, and spiritual flavor.

  • Gregor Pavlenko, Mayor (LG human, Expert 2)
  • Patricia, High Priestess of the Sun (LG human, Cleric 11)
  • Marcus Potter, Sheriff (LN human, Warrior 4)

Description:
The youngest of the Three SistersSunglor gleams like a polished jewel at the first bend of the Serpent Tail River. Bright banners flutter from sun-bleached rooftops. Even the cobblestones seem swept of dust. This fastidious charm is no coincidence—Sunglor is a city of light and structure, dedicated to the worship of Flaesuros, the radiant Sun God.

Here, even the penal system aligns with celestial compassion. Under the guidance of High Priestess Patricia and Sheriff Potter, convicts may earn redemption through labor. This only occurs if sponsored by a citizen. Many streets and riverwalks have been laid stone-by-stone by such reformed hands.

Though orderly, Sunglor is never dull. Positioned at a natural magical crossroads, the town buzzes with residual arcane energy. Combined with frequent river traffic, it becomes a hotspot for rumors, news, and unusual happenings.

Drak’kal – City of the Moon’s Memory

Population: 2,800
Government: Council
Spellcasting: Up to 7th level

Description:
Drak’kal is the oldest and most chaotic of the Three Sisters, sprawling across the confluence where the River Mohkba meets the Serpent River. Known as a haven for dreamers and pilgrims, it serves as a sacred site to followers of Nearru, Goddess of the Moon.

Legends claim that Nearru and the hero Jazoh struck down a colossal dragon here. As the beast fell, it carved a crescent-shaped stone at the water’s edge. This stone still rests at the foot of Serpens Bridge, drawing loreseekers and pilgrims from across the empire.

While the town thrives spiritually, its governance is a tangled mess. Harbormaster Casta’s confusing fee system enriches himself while frustrating trade. Even so, the flow of pilgrims and river merchants continues.

Torrent – Between Storm and Stillness

Alignment: True Neutral
Type: Small Town
Population: 275
Government: Magical
Spellcasting: Up to 6th level
Base Value / Purchase Limit: 1,300 gp / 7,500 gp

Qualities: Academic, Notorious
Notable NPCs:

  • Matron Elizabeth Dunleavy, Daughter of Nature (CN human, Druid 11)
  • Yugorg Daemonbreaker, Ogre Jailor (LN ogre, Fighter 6)

Description:
Cradled between two rushing rivers, Torrent is the most isolated and enigmatic of the Three Sisters. Founded by Klavekians disillusioned with the God of War, the town turned to nature after encountering tales of Storjeger, the Vikmordere God of the Hunt. Their guiding principle became one of balance, not domination.

Now, Torrent operates under druidic law and personal accountability. Matron Dunleavy teaches survival and restraint in her moss-covered academy. Her spice blends, ideal for preserving river cargo, make Torrent a welcome stop for captains navigating the waters.

Yugorg Daemonbreaker, an ogre and unlikely civic figure, maintains a surprisingly firm grasp on the town’s limited law enforcement.

Together, the Three Sisters represent a microcosm of Klavekian life: one town shines with divine law, another pulses with chaotic lore, and the third remains a bastion of primal balance.
