Recently, there has been a sharp increase in the populations of spiders, insects, worms, and other vermin in the area. The ongoing spider and insect bites are little more than a nuisance, but after the disappearance of a few locals, the common folk have come together to raise funds to hire experienced adventurers to investigate. They have convinced the church to raise money to pay the party to discover what has happened to the missing people, and also to find the source of the vermin.
