This small blocky thing looks not unlike a mushroom one might find in the Underworld or elsewhere in the wilderness of Aventyr.
The strange nature of phenomenal fungus can make them extremely difficult to discern, as the mushrooms flake off and cover any growing nearby with a permanent coating of their dust (thus making it impossible to tell blue phenomenal fungus from white phenomenal fungus without the use of magic).
Any creature that consumes phenomenal fungus gains one of the following abilities, determined by which of the mushrooms they have consumed.
Black: The creature gains glide as a spell-like ability and 1d10+9 temporary hit points. Activating this ability is a free action but each round before it is used, a Will save is required (DC 10 + ½ the creature’s hit dice + 1 per previous concurrent save). As soon as the creature loses these temporary hit points, the benefits of the phenomenal fungus end.
Blue: The next time the creature suffers an instadeath, it is negated and they appear in the nearest safe square instead (the creature retains all of their current life total).
Red: The creature stretches and lengthens, doubling their reach and gaining 1d10+9 temporary hit points. As soon as the creature loses these temporary hit points, the benefits of the phenomenal fungus end.
White: The creature may make ranged attacks that ignore cover (including total cover) and gains 1d10+9 temporary hit points. As soon as the creature loses these temporary hit points, the benefits of the phenomenal fungus end.
