  • Hi Andrew – there is some good reading here. I also know that there is a community of virtual tabletop gamers as well – and AaW is great about putting out VTT versions of their maps to support those efforts. I’ve run a few games on virtual tabletops with skype and teamspeak – its different than face to face – better in some ways, worse in…[Read more]

  • Madcow and Mikko – Welcome to the site. Glad to have you with us. I’m one of the lucky free lancers who works with AaW.

I was so hugely miffed at Wotc when they ended 3.5 (and beloved living greyhawk) that I stopped gaming for about 3 years. I refused to buy Pathfinder (why should I – I had perfectly good 3.5 books). But when I decided to get…[Read more]

  • thanks for the feedback kwauss.

The pitch for the AP has been refined a number of times – with some helpful comments and suggestions from the bosses :-).

It looks like we will be starting higher than first – and everyone liked the idea of pointing out where the different books in the series could be complemented by a sojourn to another A-series…[Read more]

  • Hello all.

This is Michael Allen, and I am the grand prize winner of the First Annual Pathmaster contest from AdventureAWeek.com.

I am working up some pitches for the six-part adventure path I will be writing for AAW and had a few questions for the crowd to help me define the scope of the project.

What scope of adventure path are you interested…[Read more]

Hi all – my first paid article has been published. Check out Open Design’s/Kobold Press’s new product – Trapsmith. I wrote up a bunch of tricky locks. Cheers

I think mostly the forum – although part of that might be I’m more active in them now. But also its your continuing efforts to build community here at AWW – with all the other things on your plates its good to see that is not falling by the wayside.

    • Thanks man! That means a lot to me. I try to balance a lot of things at once and hope I don’t let anything hit the ground! 😛 I think it’s time to start a new thread because I’m squeezed way over here on the right! 😀 ha ha

Well…Jonathan is one of the … special… people. LOL – cheers all. I’m sure we will all find something to flex our typing fingers on soon. BTW Jonathan – nice new additions to the site here in the last few weeks.

    • Thanks Michael! To which specific additions are you referring?

me too but a little bored now without a deadline looming

    • I know how you feel. Maybe we should write a Pathmaster First Class collaborative work or something.

      • Try a weekly deadline… every single week! 😛 That’s how I used to write! Congrats on getting your adventures in guys. Good luck!

        • That’s kinda insane. 🙂

I have had nothing but good experiences from playtests – even when means I get to go back and rewrite a section of the mod. Nothing can help you see how the players will react to/figure out clues/stymie your carefully crafted scenes than….players lol.

Hi Jacob – my playtests were very useful as well. I am actually sitting here doing a final edit and proof, and adding in the PRD links to the monsters for the editing team. Then I am lucky enough that my wife will take a proofreading pass as well this afternoon. My weekend will be about formatting special text blocks and letting it breathe for a…[Read more]

  • No worries – as I flesh things out it looks like the 2 maps will work out.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Michael

  • Yeah – I did think about that – it needs to be fair across the board (we all have the same resources). I have no problem if 2 of us use the same mountain pass map btw – my experience of Pathfinder Organized play is that encounters on the same map are wildly different depending on how they are written.

It also not a “no work for the map maker”…[Read more]

  • Thanks Jonathan – I will give this some more thought so that I use my map allowance to best effect.

This may be beyond the scope of the brief, but are there generic maps that exist that encounters can be designed around. Stuff like, wooded clearing with a pool in the center, a light undergrowth forest with a trail running through it. Small,…[Read more]

  • I understand that there is only space for 2 maps in the adventure (or one map and an illustration). From the Map tutorial the maximum layout of a “map” is 8.5 by 11.

Is it possible to include more than one encounter on an 8.5 by 11 page – essentially a series of “mini-maps” that make up a number of encounter locations, keeping in mind potential…[Read more]
