The Aawblog’s Diet Evolves!

Image_Portfolio_107_Fantasy Jason Walton 65After how delicious Cultus Sanguineus turned out to be, the AaWBlog has grown particular taste buds: every month is going to be devoted to one user-driven central theme to appease this voracious beast’s appetite!
If you’re stopping by for the previews of upcoming material, author interviews, contests or news on Rise of the Drow, don’t worry; those posts will still be making appearances as snacks and morsels!

So what does this matter? Some of the contributors are already planning things for the future already, but we want to know what you want to see!

Tentacle horses? Fantasy mechs?
Werecreatures? Airships?

Say something! Throw it into the cauldron!
AdventureAWeek.com is all about our readers and we want to make the AaWBlog an expression of your tastes as much as ours, so any and all suggestions are on the table!

Comment below with your ideas for what sorts of meals the AaWBlog should consume for the rest of 2014—we’ll work them into the menu for everyone to enjoy!

I think monthly themes for the blog are a great idea! This sort of organization will provide users with a sense of continuity that makes referencing related materials an easy task.

  2. A fantastic idea Mr. Mike Myler! Even I would be more likely to contribute material (when my schedule allows) if I know you’re running with a certain theme for the entire month. Since the Rise of the Drow PDF is coming out in March perhaps an Underworld theme would be appropriate? Or… maybe something fairy tale related? *hint hint!*

  3. We’ve got amazing Underworld material in the pipeline but it is getting into the mix for the AaWBlog now as well! I know June is queued up for something but have notions for a new creature that we can make happen in April. My love for alliteration makes me think that a different avenue may be applicable as an alternative…*hint hint*

Of course what I’d like to organize most of all is what our readers want to see, so I’m really looking forward to their comments here!

  4. I see Paizo’s Bestiary 4 has introduced three of HP Lovecraft’s Old Great Ones – Cthuhlu, Bokrug and Hastur. I know that there are dozens more; perhaps these have some mileage in some of them being written up and introduced as a high-end or campaign opponent?

  5. Alternatively, I’d quite like to see some “planar action”. Elemental opponents and encounters, quasi-elementals, demons, devils, titans, undead and other intelligent malign opponents; perhaps presented as Elder Evils timeline?

  6. I’d also like to see organisations – mostly local, but some national – such as wizard schools, sorcerer clans, religious cults, schools of military training (complete with fighting styles) and groups centred around hunting certain types of opponents (e.g. giants, undead).

  7. Oh, and pre-statted mercenaries at various levels, for use as party hirelings. Possibly even mercenary companies as minor organisations.

Those are excellent ideas Mr Ely. I do think we should make them more generic and not tie them into the Aventyr Campaign Setting, I mean letting Mr Ely and myself run amok in Aventyr would mean that cyborg space hamsters would battle it out versus various demons over a blasted wasteland. Generic like the previous posts but still connected by a common theme.
